Health Services & Health Benefits

"Health is a positive concept emphasizing social and personal resources, as well as physical capacities.” This means that health is a resource to support an individual's function in wider society, rather than an end in itself. A healthful lifestyle provides the means to lead a full life with meaning and purpose.

What we do

Health Services at LBL offers a series of programs and services that are available to the benefit of Berkeley Lab employees as well as in support of Berkeley Lab research projects. These include evaluations, first aid and wellness, and worker assistance and accommodation.

Evaluations (hand/occupational therapy, optometry, medical surveillance/certs, new hire physicals)

First Aid and Wellness (including AED and travel medicine)

Worker Assistance/Integrated Disability & Absence Management (disability, Family and Medical Leaves of Absence, workers comp)

Health Programs

Health Services Wellness Programs strive to create a healthy work environment through integrated programs designed to provide employees with tools and skills for leading healthy lifestyles, prevent injury and illness, and contribute to higher performance, morale, and job satisfaction.

Health Services’ hours of operation are from 7:30 am until 4:00 pm Monday – Friday. Please contact Health Services at 510-486-6266.

Occupational Health Portal

Health Services is now using clinic.lbl.gov. The website is an efficient method to communicate with Health Services. It is also a repository for testing results and provides links to information about FMLA and disability leave, illness, and other health topics.

HEALTH benefits

Do you have questions about your health care benefits? Berkeley Lab's Health Care Facilitator (HCF) helps staff, retirees, survivors, and their eligible family members better understand and obtain the full benefits and services available from the UC-sponsored health plans. The HCF is located in the HR Benefits Office. For more information, refer to the Health Care Facilitator Program website.

The University of California’s comprehensive medical benefits encompass the broad needs of our diverse workforce to keep our employees, retirees and their family members healthy.

Nearly all of UC’s medical plans offer benefits for the health care needs of transgender and nonbinary faculty, staff and postdoctoral scholars.

All UC health plans offer wellness benefits--such as wellness coaching, classes, and discounts. Explore what your health plan offers from this UC Berkeley website.
